Today marks the 232nd anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the United States of America.

The declaration begins:

hen in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

YOUR VIEW

When you go against popular opinion, or choose a separate, independent path from others, do you ever put it in writing, in a public way? Or do you take a more passive/aggressive approach and nod affirmatively in the decision meeting, knowing full well that you’re not going to follow the lead? How do you declare the cause that impels you to separation?

LEGACY

The founding fathers of the United States chose a written and public way to declare their direction. It has endured for 232 years. How long will your independence last?
